America's Got Talent Season 11 Live Stream Auditions

Objectives

In order to find talent and drive audition awareness, America's Got Talent held live streamed auditions on YouNow. The audition team held 13 one-hour live stream auditions to meet talent on the platform and provide them with an opportunity to perform.In addition to the live auditions, our show host provided audition tips and information on further ways young hopefuls could audition for Season 11 of America's Got Talent.

The goals were to find talent for the upcoming season, reach a younger demographic, and let more people know that auditions were open for the next season. The audition period for a season of America's Got Talent is over eight months long, so there is a big push to generate and continue awareness.In addition, we also wanted to make sure every act throughout the country had an opportunity to audition.For those not able to visit one of our audition cities in-person, the YouNow auditions were the perfect solution.

Strategy and Execution

Utilizing YouNow's then-new Guest Broadcasting feature, producers for America's Got Talent hosted live streams and called up auditioners from the broadcast queue for a live audition via a split screen. This allowed for a positive, immediate interaction with auditioners and the live stream's viewers.

Our host, Adam Davis, made sure the auditions remained positive and upbeat, constantly providing positive feedback and explaining how those not making it into the YouNow livestream that day could still audition via the various other options provided by AGT.Some broadcasts were even joined by talent from past seasons to provide an added element of entertainment and give hopefuls more encouragement. People often get nervous auditioning in front of producers, especially in a live setting, so we created a positive and encouraging environment.

The live streams were promoted across the America's Got Talent & YouNow social media handles and within the YouNow platform.

Results

Over the 13, one-hour broadcasts, the America's Got Talent live stream auditions reached over 1.3 million views. Nearly 15,000 auditioners queued up to audition for producers during the live streams. The partnership was so successful, with more people signing up to audition than what could be incorporated into the one hour broadcast, that the team created a spill over page that allowed hopefuls to upload their audition. These additional acts were directed to the www.AGTAuditions.com website, resulting in more than a 100% increase in submissions on YouNow broadcast days.
