About Ibtihaj Muhammad

Sabre fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, the first Muslim woman to do so while wearing a hijab. She earned bronze in the Team Sabre event, making her the first American Muslim woman to bring home a medal, too. Ibtihaj took up fencing because it was a sport that allowed her to cover in a way that her religion would allow, and has now become a role model to female and Muslim athletes everywhere. Her fearlessness has led her to collaborate on social media with many brands who appreciate her strength and fortitude, like Gap and Visa. Ibtihaj continues to take to her popular feeds to discuss important issues that she and other people of color face today.
