Andy Weir’s novel The Martian was originally released on his website, but was so well written and researched fans asked for a Kindle version, which led to a publishing deal. Concerned with scientific accuracy, the book was adapted into a major motion picture starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain and won critical acclaim. Before his novel, Andy worked as software engineer. He describes himself as a “lifelong space nerd" with a love for classic sci-fi and has been visiting with NASA astronauts and rocket scientists, documenting the meetings on social media. Many like-minded space nerds have flocked to his Twitter account, looking for an insider’s view to space science.
