After the premiere episode of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16, Mirage’s talent show performance gained traction with fans online. We noticed users had started learning the choreography and posting their own dance videos. We wanted to showcase all of the incredible recreations that fans were posting, so we came up with the idea to make a compilation video to Mirage’s original track.
We began sourcing user-generated content to potentially feature in our compilation. We conducted outreach to creators seeking approval to use their videos in our piece. After obtaining their sign-offs, we worked to create a dynamic edit to feature as many users’ videos as possible.
Upon posting our video on TikTok and Instagram, we received super positive feedback from fans and talent alike. The fandom was really happy to see us reposting some of their recreations, loving the range of creators featured in the piece. This kind of deep engagement allows us to surprise and delight our audience. The video has gained 500K engagements since posting.
