Disability Awareness / Inclusion

Entered in Disability Awareness

Objective

To change perceptions of disability by creating authentic, engaging content that showcases independence, fatherhood, fitness, travel, and everyday life from the perspective of a wheelchair user. Through storytelling, humor, and community engagement, the goal is to inspire people of all abilities to pursue their goals, challenge limitations, and build confidence in themselves.

Strategy

Our strategy was to normalize disability through consistent, authentic storytelling rather than focusing solely on inspiration. By documenting everyday experiences—including fatherhood, fitness, travel, driving with hand controls, community events, and lifestyle content—we created content that audiences could relate to regardless of ability.

Content was distributed across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and live streaming platforms to maximize reach and engagement. Each platform was tailored to its audience while maintaining a consistent message: disability does not define potential.

Through the ACIC (Ant Can, I Can) movement, we encouraged community participation and reinforced a message of resilience, confidence, and action. Content combined education, humor, vulnerability, and motivation to build trust and create meaningful conversations around disability representation.

By showing both challenges and victories in real time, we fostered an engaged community that viewed disability through a lens of possibility rather than limitation, resulting in sustained audience growth, strong engagement, and measurable impact across multiple platforms.

Results

The campaign successfully expanded disability representation across social media while building a highly engaged and inclusive community. Content reached millions of viewers across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, generating consistent engagement through storytelling focused on resilience, independence, fitness, fatherhood, and everyday life.

During this period, Anthony Sanchez (Wheelchair Papi) continued to grow a combined audience of more than 2.5 million followers across platforms, strengthening his position as one of the most visible disability creators online. His content sparked meaningful conversations around accessibility, inclusion, and self-confidence while inspiring individuals with and without disabilities.

The impact extended beyond social media through speaking engagements, brand partnerships, community initiatives, and the growth of the ACIC (Ant Can, I Can) movement. Anthony’s work also earned industry recognition, culminating in a 2026 Webby Award win, further validating the influence and effectiveness of his storytelling approach.

Most importantly, the content created a measurable human impact. Thousands of community members shared personal stories of overcoming adversity, pursuing fitness goals, gaining confidence, and embracing a more positive outlook on life after connecting with Anthony’s message that challenges do not define a person’s potential.
