Harold Garman and Spence Limbocker met at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, MD. Noticing isolation among residents and challenges facing nearby immigrant families, they co-founded the Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative. The program connects seniors with immigrant youth and adults, fostering companionship, mentorship, and access to educational opportunities for all.
We aimed to show how Garman and Limbocker turned inspiration into action, highlighting their community impact and the lives they’ve changed. It also encourages people 50+ to engage in their community, showing the personal and societal benefits of active involvement.
Garman and Limbocker received $75K to further grow and support the Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative. The video was distributed across our major platforms—event, social, press kit, AARP.org, with the duo and the initiative providing inspiration for their communities and beyond.
