The Burning Truth is a docuseries created by renowned dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe and her daughter Maclane, and endorsed by Impact Melanoma and produced in partnership with La Roche-Posay, with a mission to outshine the surge of false sun safety claims circulating online and putting a younger generation at risk. The goal was to debunk myths and provide evidence-based information in a fun, visual way to empower younger generations to protect their skin and ultimately prevent melanoma rates from rising.
Through visual experiments and the help of chefs, celebrities, and scientists, each episode tackles a widely-believed sun or tanning myth from "safe tans" to "cloudy day protection". Through hands-on experiments, investigations, and expert analysis, The Burning Truth puts trending claims to the test, separating hype from hard evidence. The four-part docuseries was produced in partnership with La Roche-Posay and endorsed by Impact Melanoma to help increase visibility to the cause campaign and raise public awareness to these communities. It was filmed over the course of 3-months and debutted with episodes 1 & 2 via a private screening event in New York City hosted by Dr. Whitney Bowe, Maclane, and La Roche-Posay to introduce the series to key media and content creators.
The Burning Truth was featured in three live, national broadcast segments including Good Morning America and Good Day NY. It has received press coverage in top media outlets including Allure, Happi, and Cosmetics Business.
