In early October, Wheel of Fortune had a chance to kill two birds with one stone: First, it was Teachers Week on the Wheel set, one week during the season when producers invite teachers to spin the wheel and win money (and prizes) that could benefit them, and their students. But besides Teachers Week, it was also the start of Pat Sajak's final season as one of our two co-hosts of Wheel of Fortune.
With those two things in mind, the Wheel Social & Digital team set out to design a graphic that could shine a light on both, an that's how the idea for "Class of WOF" was born. Harkening back to yearbooks of old, the graphic connects both the idea of school and students (for Teachers Week) AND gives us an opportunity to highlight old photos of Pat and Vanna from over the years (a bit of nostalgia for Pat's last season).
We really wanted something that felt fresh and very "Wheel" and as well as something that alluded to classic yearbooks with their old grainy photos and plenty of superlatives. So we combined the two concepts to develop these graphics for Wheel's Instagram account.
