Freeform and ABC News produced a companion podcast for their true-crime docu-series “Sasha Reid and the Midnight Order”.
The companion podcast, called “Inside the Midnight Order”, provided a weekly Hulu tune-in driver through in-depth discussions and deep dives into cases, interviews with the cast and crew, and additional information into the formation of the Midnight Order, the all-female investigative team working to provide closure for missing & murdered individuals.
Freeform co-produced the podcast with ABC News, leaning on their extensive knowledge in the True Crime audio space to create compelling narratives and features. The show’s resident Midnight Order expert, executive producer Nancy Schwartzman, co-hosted with ABC News correspondent Kayna Whitworth.
Episodes were also released both in a stand-alone podcast feed and featured as special episodes in ABC’s 20/20 podcast feed, leveraging their built-in audience.
The podcast episodes were released weekly in conjunction with show episodes on Hulu.
Each podcast episode expanded on the developments in the show and cases, featuring behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew as well as explaining in depth the findings Dr. Sasha Reid and her team have uncovered in Canada’s largest missing and murdered persons database, and what questions they’re still trying to find answers to.
The podcast is delivered through numerous audio apps including but not limited to: ABC News, Audacy, iHeartRadio, Pandora, and SiriusXM.
The companion podcast had over 2 Million downloads over its 5-episode run, an incredible payoff for a first-time collaboration with the Freeform and ABC News team.
