When Wicked: For Good premiered in New York City, E! Digital Originals set out to deliver more than red carpet coverage; we aimed to create an immersive fan event worthy of Oz itself.
Live from the NYC premiere, E!’s Justin Sylvester brought his signature charm and spontaneity to the carpet, offering viewers exclusive interviews with the film’s stars, creatives, and VIP guests. The objective was to transform our exclusive red carpet access into a dynamic, social-first experience, one that felt celebratory, intimate, and instantly shareable for the passionate Wicked fandom.
Our premium livestream captured the spectacle of the evening with sweeping fashion shots, high-energy arrivals, and real-time interviews from our key carpet position. But beyond just showing the premiere, we designed the livestream to amplify it by blending live coverage with interactive elements, cross-play integration with our signature E! CreatorCam hosted by Eli Rallo, and custom video packages that deepened the storytelling around the film.
Building on the success of our original Wicked livestream, this iteration focused on expanding access and elevating production value. The goal was simple: bring audiences closer than ever to one of the most anticipated premieres of the year and make them feel like they had a front-row seat in Oz.
Following the success of our 2024 Wicked premiere coverage, Universal partnered with E! early to evolve the livestream experience for Wicked: For Good. With audience feedback and performance insights in-hand, our strategy centered on expansion in reach, in engagement, and in on-site integration.
Access became our North Star. In addition to airing on E! digital and Universal social handles, for the first time, the livestream was projected inside the premiere theater and on screens to crowds gathered outside the venue, extending the broadcast beyond digital viewers and into the physical event itself.
Fans on-site experienced the same interviews and arrivals in real time, blurring the line between red carpet coverage and live event activation.
From a production standpoint, meticulous pre-production ensured we were prepared for the unpredictability of a live premiere environment. Multiple technical rehearsals and a modular, flexible rundown allowed our team to pivot seamlessly. If talent arrivals shifted or interviews condensed, we were equipped with pre-produced packages, branded segments, and dynamic camera angles to maintain pacing and energy.
We also made sure to elevate the show this year by creating custom motion graphics and branded show opens, incorporating picture-in-picture live arrival feeds, integrating cross-play with E!’s CreatorCam coverage, and weaving brand integrations organically into the show.
E!’s very own Justin Sylvester anchored the coverage with his natural rapport and improvisational skill, creating authentic, joyful moments that resonated across social platforms. Interviews prioritized spontaneity and fan-centric storytelling celebrating fashion, fandom, and behind-the-scenes insights. By combining broadcast-quality production with digital-first storytelling and experiential on-site amplification, the Wicked: For Good livestream became more than coverage, it became part of the premiere itself.
The E! @ Wicked: For Good Livestream delivered 434,000 live views, representing +138% year-over-year YouTube growth compared to our 2024 Wicked premiere coverage.
