Even the most driven among us have, in a moment of exhaustion or doubt, reached for a convenient out. “Not my job,” “Tomorrow is fine,” or “Someone else has it.” It’s human. But in a creative environment, those small concessions can quietly cloud our collective ambition, until average starts to look acceptable.
This campaign acknowledges that we’ve all been there and is both a rallying cry and reminder for companies to create cultures where excuses don’t drive our decisions and are intentionally replaced by collective ownership and over-commitment.
To honor this shift, we decided to create a symbolic campaign that systematically eliminates the industry’s most common cop-outs.
Excuse Elimination worked in three ways.
The Visualization: We began by turning these limiting thoughts into art. We designed posters where the excuses themselves were the subject, using conceptual typography to give "the excuse" a physical form.
The Elimination: Because excuses are stubborn, we met them with beautiful, cathartic force. Using chainsaws, flamethrowers, and swords, our team literally dismantled these barriers. We captured all this in slow-motion, transforming our symbolic gesture against mediocrity into a striking piece of performance art. These films were shared on Instagram Stories as a showcase of what passion, over-commitment and ambition can create.
The Gallery: We didn’t just throw the remains away. Instead, we framed the charred, sliced, and battered remnants and installed them as a permanent gallery within our agency walls to be a galvanizing force and a creative reminder of what over-commitment and passion can create.
The campaign transformed an industry-wide symptom into a lasting cultural philosophy: Greatness happens when excuses don’t.
