FX's The Beauty - Micro Episodes

Objective

To launch FX’s The Beauty, we pioneered a first-of-its-kind approach for a scripted television series: transforming the first two episodes into seven standalone ~1 minute “micro episode” installments built specifically for TikTok and Instagram.

Rather than simply clipping scenes, we re-edited the narrative into snackable, high-impact chapters, each crafted with a clear beginning, escalation, and cliffhanger ending. The goal was to introduce audiences to the series’ over-the-top, salacious world through a format native to social platforms, positioning The Beauty as both premium television and bingeable micro-content.

Strategy

The strategy was rooted in platform fluency. Microdramas dominate TikTok — serialized, dramatic, cliffhanger-driven content designed to hook scrollers instantly. We saw an opportunity to merge that format with premium TV storytelling.

Using the first two episodes as source material, we carefully restructured the narrative into seven distinct arcs. Each micro episode was: self-contained yet serialized, optimized for vertical viewing, and cliffhanger-led.

We adapted pacing, emphasized character stakes, tightened dialogue beats, and leaned into heightened moments to mirror the addictive cadence of viral microdramas.

The key challenge was preserving cinematic quality while embracing platform-native rhythm. By blending prestige visuals with social storytelling mechanics, we created content that felt equally at home on a streaming platform and a For You Page.

Results

The micro episodes drove strong engagement across TikTok and Instagram with viewers expressing their excitement for the videos and the series itself.

The format expanded the show’s reach beyond traditional TV audiences and positioned The Beauty social content as culturally aware and structurally innovative. By meeting viewers in the format they already binge daily, we transformed passive promotion into active episodic consumption.
