Hi Shorty Awards! The Rainbow here, and really excited to tell you all about my new Skittles Tumblr page, where I've re-imagined the awesome content you've come to expect from my social channels and television spots into totally Tumblr-iffic posts.
Okay, so, I've been kicking it in a pretty boss-like fashion on Facebook and Twitter for a long time. But then it occurred to me: "Hey, Rainbow" - that's me talking to myself, which is TOTALLY NORMAL - "Hey, Rainbow, there's all these people hanging out on Tumblr and talking about Skittles and you're not there to be a part of the conversation and hang out with your fans. I think it's time to re-assess, me."
I re-assessed so hard, to the point where I launched the Official Tumblr of the Rainbow in the summer of 2014. Take a look: I'm sharing gifs, pics, deep thoughts (so deep), and my latest videos in what can only be described as a Scrolling Celebration of Rebloggable Awesomeness. And not only do I share new content on Tumblr, but I've also found ways to use some of my greatest hits from other platforms: I like to take deep thoughts, images, and copy I've expressed in one form other places and transform it into forms that are perfect for Tumblr. BOOM. Maximum content impact with minimal Rainbow resources.
Skittles was MADE for Tumblr! All my Rainbow thoughts are so much bigger, brighter, and more dynamic in the land of fandom and gifs. In fact, I believe that the Skittles voice and Tumblr are such a perfect match that I personally - it took six weeks and don't even ask me how many oxen - routed my flagship URL, skittles.com itself, to my Tumblr. If that's not social media Winvestment I don't know what is.
So how's it going on Tumblr? Well, I haven't been on the platform that long. I'm still the new Rainbow on the block. But! My average follower growth rate is 60% per month and my monthly reblogs have increased by 91% since launch -- and I haven't even started using paid media support on Tumblr yet! I'm gaining followers like a whale gains plankton if plankton were awesome; my likes and reblogs continue to increase; I'm giving amazing new life to content I've already created; and I'm learning a ton from what users engage with and respond to. And that's what's really important to me, because I'm not running a fly-by-night Tumblr operation here. I'm here for the long-term. And winning a Shorty Award would be like getting a high five from the entire Internet.
