Ghia

Finalist in Brand Identity

Objective

Ghia is the non-alcoholic beverage brand from Founder and CEO Melanie Masarin that is leading the N/A movement. Inspired by summers enjoyed with her family in the South of France near the Mediterranean – moments spent entertaining friends, cooking together, and having conversations that lasted until dawn – Ghia is meant to create an aperitivo hour that, like those childhood memories, invites everyone to the table and transports you to a place of simple pleasures and connection without numbing the night. Our goal is to create an inclusive and adaptable product to be enjoyed for those that imbibe or choose not to.

Strategy

Ghia is on a mission to take back the word ‘drinking’ from alcohol with their non-alcoholic Aperitif that looks to mixology in order to bring your favorite flavors and applications from behind the bar into non-alcoholic applications. In a society where alcohol consumption is highly normalized, it is a challenge to bring N/A beverages in spaces that primarily focus on booze. In June 2020, Ghia launched with their hero product, the Aperitif, with a flavor that is both bright and bitter, with hints of citrus and florals shining through thanks to health-forward ingredients including Gentian Root, Lemon Balm, Date, Elderflower (and no added sugar). Rather than creating a non-alcoholic replacement of an existing cocktail or spirit, Ghia set out to create flavor profiles that can stand entirely on their own. In fall of 2023, Ghia added a second Aperitif, Berry Aperitif, to their product assortment. Similarly unique, Berry is bold and tart, featuring ingredients like Strawberry Juice, Fermented Green Jasmine Tea, Orange Peel Extract, and other 100% natural botanicals. This new Aperitif offers a sweeter, silkier sip that can be paired with food or enjoyed as a nightcap. Ghia’s complex and adaptable flavor profile creates an elevated experience by allowing feelings of togetherness coupled with individuality & spirit to drinking.

Results

As curiosity amongst non-alcoholic options has increased, retailers and restaurateurs are exploring N/A options more than ever before. Ghia is found at 1,000+ stockists across the country, including Erewhon in Los Angeles,  Wholefoods, and Target. Our products have also been featured on restaurant menus like Bemelmans Bar, Sant Ambroeus, Stissing House, and countless other notables. We are so thankful for the support and feedback we receive and are excited to continue learning and exploring as we expand our Ghia community.
