Objective

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a world-renowned venue situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains outside Denver, Colorado. Opened in 1941, Red Rocks is a bucket list concert venue for both artists and fans – due largely in part to the iconic and breathtaking landscape surrounding the venue.

As a part of our concerted effort to promote the unparalleled experience of Red Rocks, we created Red Rocks Trail Mix Sessions: an intimate content series designed to spotlight the musical talent that graces the amphitheatre stage.

These stripped-down sessions capture the essence of the artists' performances in a natural, trail setting. By integrating the mesmerizing scenery of Red Rocks Park, we create a visually stunning representation of the synergy between music and nature.

Strategy

Red Rocks Trail Mix Sessions serve a dual purpose. These videos offer artists a unique platform to showcase their craft in a distinctive environment while simultaneously bolstering the visibility of Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Each episode is meticulously curated and forms an integral component of our comprehensive marketing strategy.

Filming in an outdoor environment presents certain challenges that require advanced logistical planning. We carefully choose trail locations that augment artist performances, with contingency plans in place to accommodate unpredictable weather. Our production focus is preserving high-quality audio and video that incorporates natural ambient sounds that further enhance the remarkable settings of the series.

Achieving this balance involves a nuanced approach—capturing artists' work authentically while embracing nature's harmonious elements. To accomplish this, we film with multiple cameras and use advanced audio techniques that include both DI and directional microphones. These methods ensure we maintain the integrity of the music while embracing the outdoor environment and organic nature of the performance.

Trail Mix Sessions are prominently featured on the official Red Rocks website, the Red Rocks YouTube channel, and extensively shared across our diverse social media platforms. This strategic distribution ensures a broad audience reach, captivating music enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Results

The Trail Mix series successfully highlights the Red Rocks brand, concert experience and surrounding trails through free content easily accessible to music fans across the globe.

Our team has collaborated with major artists including Wilco, Shakey Graves, Keb' Mo', Grace Potter, Thievery Corporation and many more, generating 2.5 million views across Red Rocks social media (Instagram, etc.) and YouTube channel.
