Final Destination: 4DX Death Chair

Finalist in Entertainment, Short Form Video, Single Post or Activation

Objectives

To help Warner Bros. promote Final Destination: Bloodlines, we introduced a new kind of moviegoing experience - one that felt unmistakably true to a franchise known for turning anticipation, tension, and dark humor into spectacle. The challenge was to cut through a crowded horror landscape with a digital-first idea that could excite die-hard fans and drive conversation ahead of the film's release.

Strategy and Execution

Introducing The 4DX Death Chair: a fictional, hyper-immersive “product” designed to simulate every on-screen fatality directly in a fan’s seat. While the chair itself wasn’t real, the experience was crafted to feel authentic to the Final Destination universe, blending practical effects, dark comedy, and social-native storytelling to bring the franchise’s signature thrills into the real world.

The Death Chair was unveiled through a cinematic “announcement” video that positioned the concept as a once-in-a-lifetime moviegoing experience. By syncing each on-screen fatality to the imagined mechanics of the chair, the stunt invited fans to imagine themselves inside the film. The idea resonated deeply with the franchise’s devoted fandom, transforming a promotional asset into a cultural talking point.

Results

The response was immediate and massive. The announcement generated more than 17.3 million organic views and 1.8 million engagements across social platforms, earning the #1 horror spot on TikTok. And the momentum translated directly to box office impact: Final Destination: Bloodlines broke domestic opening weekend records and ultimately became the #1 Warner Bros. title in 4DX history.

By introducing a bold, fictional experience that felt completely authentic to the franchise, we reframed a film launch as an event, proving that when horror marketing leans into imagination, fandom, and platform-native storytelling, the results can be truly killer.
