Made when it seemed that quarantine and the pandemic may only last a few weeks this funny tutorial on working from home was a great way to test our at home production capabilities. It wasn't just an experiment though. It was also an opportunity to continue to grow the audience of one of our internal creators (Jordan Medoza) and drive views and brand affinity. We wanted to find the funny in an uncertain moment and we definitely did.
Tapping into the moment is one of the best ways to generate comedy on the Internet and in mid March the moment was weird. As we headed to our respective homes to learn our new way of working we started to sort through quick and easy ways to self produce content from home. Churning out timely stuff like this "Work From Home Tips" video taps into the audience by being relatable first and keeps them by being surprisingly funny. The video's lo-fi quality makes it stand out on Instagram where so many brands (even us) tend to utilize production value to get views.
The video generated a very solid viewership nearly 150K on Instagram, 19.7K on Twitter and 321K+ on TikTok. The videos stellar performance across various platforms showed that it was the perfect content for the time. It also helped us sort out our new production realities on the fly.
