At Resy, we know that dining is more than a meal – it’s an experience, a discovery, a connection. The 2024 Resy Recap Email was designed to celebrate the unforgettable culinary moments our users had throughout the year, transforming their dining history into a personalized, visually rich narrative.
With this initiative, we set out to achieve two key goals: deepen our relationship with diners by reflecting their unique “food story” and amplify our restaurant partners by showcasing their impact. The recap highlighted everything from first-time visits to beloved go-to spots, making each diner’s journey feel both personal and shareable.
Seamlessly blending user data, curated storytelling, and dynamic design, the Resy Recap delivered more than just a summary – it sparked nostalgia and anticipation. By showcasing the vibrancy of our restaurant community, we reinforced Resy’s role as the go-to platform for dining discovery and loyalty. The result? A delightful, data-driven experience that reminds users why every reservation is more than just a seat at the table – it’s a moment worth remembering.
Bringing the 2024 Resy Recap to life meant transforming millions of reservations into deeply personal, visually engaging experiences for our users. We wanted each diner to relive their year in food, turning their reservations into a story filled with favorite spots, new discoveries, and moments worth celebrating.
We focused on three core pillars:
Personalization: The Resy Recap email was 100% personalized to each diner, featuring over 9,200 restaurants and plugging various campaigns, content, and experiences to highlight the Resy value proposition. Each email was uniquely crafted using rich booking data, highlighting a user’s most-visited restaurant, favorite cuisine, and even their top dining companion. These insights were personal and celebratory, reinforcing each user’s unique “food identity.”
Celebration of Local Restaurants: Our recap didn’t just spotlight individual dining habits; it also shined a light on the broader restaurant community. 90% of Resy partner restaurants were featured, reaching 1.8M users across priority cities.
Community Engagement: Users organically shared their Resy Recap, and several partners (including diner favorites like Raf’s, Barbuto and COCODAQ) reshared stories from those who tagged them as their top restaurant of 2024. This approach transformed dining stats into a social conversation, driving organic engagement and boosting visibility for our restaurant partners.
Merging multiple data sources meant implementing robust validation checks, resulting in a seamless, mobile-friendly email that was as visually compelling as it was informative. Blending rich insights, brand-forward design, and playful storytelling, the 2024 Resy Recap became a celebration of the dining experiences that make life memorable, exceeding expectations.
