Heifer Collections are curated digital features published quarterly that bring to life Heifer’s work with farmers and partners around the world using immersive stories, images and video.
Heifer Collections are an opportunity to make more immersive and rich long-form stories available to more readers interested in Heifer's work with farmers around the world.
By providing such content through an online magazine we bring our work to life through multimedia, rich imagery and interactive features that delight and educate our readers and supporters.
The transition to an online magazine required a significant shift in planning, processes and coordination within our organization. The goal was to ensure that readers of the printed World Ark magazine, which had been in print for nearly thirty years could still access stories of Heifer's work with farmers around the world.
The team explored several options to present the long-form content that readers and supporters expected while also sharing beautiful images, videos and interactive content. One year since their debut, the Heifer Collections have been well-received by long-standing readers who are friends of Heifer, supporters, stakeholders and those new to the organization who now have an opportunity to learn more about the work through this format.
The Collections are part of Heifer's outreach efforts and present an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to our vision of a world free of hunger and poverty.
The Collections are hosted on Heifer’s website under their own index page, with each issue also featured on its own beautifully designed landing page.
Each issue is a collection of three or four stories on a specific thematic area connected to a central idea, and each issue is released online and through email every three or four months. This allows the team to produce beautifully curated multimedia stories comprised of long-form journalistic articles, videos, infographics, and interactive elements.
Although each issue’s specific thematic areas are different, the Collections, when viewed as a whole, tell the story of a learning organization that embraces change and seeks to remain true to its vision and mission.
The Collections continue to be well-received by the farmers and partners who are featured, by readers of the magazine and by Heifer's supporters and stakeholders.
