Since 2015, Good2Go has partnered with Lava Mae, a non-profit organization bringing radical hospitality and mobile hygiene through showers and Pop-Up Care Villages to those in need. After a careful search for an organization that sought to address needs around restroom access, Lava Mae was selected and an empathetic and fruitful community partnership continues to grow. By donating proceeds and services, volunteering at events, and broadcasting Lava Mae’s message of expanding access to hygiene, dignity, and opportunity to people experiencing homelessness, Good2Go has developed a culture of social responsibility that goes beyond short term altruism. The partnership continues to work toward mutual development and sustainable longevity.
Good2Go believes that using innovative technology to solve problems and create social benefit is a good business model. Good2Go addresses the persistent and frustrating dilemma of restroom unavailability and access by bringing a high-tech solution to the market, designed to be the antithesis of the status quo. Fundamentally, the problem begins with the uncertainty of the conditions in a public facility. With a severe lack of reliable public restrooms, Good2Go fills a need for consumers while acknowledging that this issue affects everyone in the community. What makes this partnership so successful is Good2Go and Lava Mae’s shared commitment to focus on meeting the needs of unhoused people by improving access to restrooms, showers and other supportive services, through mobile hygiene and pop-up care villages.
While Good2Go realistically cannot reach every person looking for a restroom, our partnership with Lava Mae serves to support those with the highest need. As restroom access continues to be a problem for consumers, it becomes an even greater issue of health and safety for those who are experiencing homelessness—an issue Lava Mae responds to directly. In donating resources to Lava Mae, Good2Go helps provide for those in our community yet outside of our user base and grants the opportunity for our retail partners to do the same.
Good2Go tangibly supports Lava Mae by sharing a portion of revenue to support ongoing initiatives and operations to provide better access to clean water and public facilities to everyone. Additionally, some Good2Go retailers donate their revenue share alongside Good2Go increasing the contribution to an issue that affects us all as a community.
Founder and CEO of Good2Go Fran Heller joined Lava Mae’s board in 2018 after seeing the incredible work accomplished and its close alignment to Good2Go’s values. She continues to serve the organization as an active board member. Good2Go is also a huge proponent of Lava Mae’s mission in many facets of our brand messaging including joint marketing efforts through social media and amplification. Increasing visibility for this partnership and Lava Mae’s cause to our users is a big part of Good2Go’s dedication to bringing access and dignity to all.
Throughout the year, Good2Go employees dedicate time to volunteer at Lava Mae’s Pop-Up Care Village events. These events mobilize private, nonprofit, and public sector partners to bring critical services to the homeless populations that Lava Mae serves. Good2Go not only bring volunteers but also their mobile restroom unit to increase access to restrooms. Good2Go and its employees take a great deal of pride in participating in these opportunities for service, including bringing our product to guests at these events.
Good2Go’s desire in partnering with Lava Mae is to effectively meet the needs of our users while supporting an organization that provides resources to unhoused populations and raising awareness for Lava Mae’s core cause—providing radical hospitality and restoring dignity to those who have been displaced. With the belief that tech can be used for social good, Good2Go contributes resources to show that these problems and people affected deserve not only the awareness and dignity but also innovative solutions that push back against social inequity.
As a result, Good2Go and Lava Mae are tackling one of San Francisco’s biggest problems and doing so through a successful corporate-community partnership.
