Objectives

What if Shark Week, could become Shark Month?

As a celebration of Shark Week's 30th anniversary, The Daily Bite, served as a month-long daily countdown leading up to Discovery's 2018 Shark Week. Daily Bite consisted of 30 mid-form episodes hosted by comedian Jordan Carlos.

The series' aim was to provide a creative digital/social environment to engage a wider audience of Shark Week fans.

Strategy and Execution

Shark Week themed webisodes were released on a daily basis, starting one month before the on-air premiere of Shark Week.

The Daily Bite provided complementary programming that covered everything viewers need and wanted to know about past Shark Weeks, from on-air programming teases, to throw-back clips, and conservation highlights.

Results

The Daily Bite successfully provided a fun and entertaining digital extension of the Shark Week 2018 extravaganza, giving long-time fans, and uninitiated viewers a chance to get excited for Discovery's best week of the year!

The cross-platform series contributed to overwhelmingly positive engagement across the Discovery brand GO apps - leading to increased mobile GO streams, viewer retention, and new user acquisitions.
