Hulu Original “How I Met Your Father” is inspired by the long-running sitcom of a similar name. The show gender flips the plot of the original series as a woman named Sophie (played by Hilary Duff in the 2022 timeline and Kim Cattrall in the future) tells her son how she met his dad. It’s a story that catapults us back to the present day where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
Ahead of the launch of “How I Met Your Father” Season 2, Hulu Originals’ goal was to create a flurry of excitement and drive tune-in.
Hulu Originals decided that the Season 2 finale of “How I Met Your Father” would be filmed live in front of a studio audience - and superfans in the Los Angeles area were invited to attend.
A week before the final episode was scheduled to be filmed, the show’s star and Millennial icon Hilary Duff posted a video on social media to make the announcement. The post included a link where fans could register to secure their seat in the audience.
The live taping took place Friday, February 3rd in Los Angeles.
Not everyone would be able to attend the taping - tickets were limited - so Hulu Originals invited two influencers to act as ambassadors for HIMYF fans: Chris Klemens (@chrisklemens) and Robyn Delmonte (@girlbosstown.)
Chris posted a teaser video to TikTok and Robyn posted a teaser video to Instagram.
Behind-the-scenes videos from the day and filmed with the cast of HIMYF resulted in viral videos on both creators' TikTok pages.
Chris and Robyn’s teaser videos kicked off promotion for “How I Met Your Father” Season 2 with a strong start.
