Objective

The healthcare industry is facing a critical shortage of workers despite growing demand, with healthcare professionals grappling with challenges such as burnout, salary concerns, and insufficient mental health support. As the No. 1 job site in the world, Indeed sought to address these issues with Careers in Care: Off the Clock. The objective was to change the narrative for healthcare workers by celebrating their efforts, prioritizing their well-being, and authentically bringing Indeed into the community of and solidarity for healthcare professionals.

The specific goals included:

Ultimately, the event aimed to show healthcare workers that Indeed was committed to supporting their well-being by providing a tangible experience that aligned with Indeed’s mission to improve the world of work for healthcare professionals.

Strategy

Indeed’s Careers in Care: Off the Clock event was designed to address the emotional and professional needs of healthcare workers in an industry characterized by long hours, high stress, and a lack of appreciation. The strategy was rooted in findings from Indeed’s 2023 Better Work, Better Lives Study, which showed that other than financial compensation, healthcare professionals prioritize appreciation, connection to their work, and stress relief.

The Big Idea

The core concept was to care for and celebrate healthcare workers the way they care for others every day. The “Off the Clock” event centered on providing a restorative and enjoyable experience that allowed healthcare workers to feel seen, appreciated, and supported. We wanted to offer them a respite from daily stressors while reinforcing that Indeed cares about their well-being.

Planning and Collaboration

Indeed worked closely with external agencies and internal teams to create a multifaceted, engaging event. We partnered with comedian and entrepreneur Nurse Blake, popular healthcare-focused footwear brand STAND+, and Glassdoor, whose shared values of supporting healthcare workers aligned with the event's mission. This collaboration was critical in amplifying the event's impact.

Event Execution

The activation included a combination of wellness activities, entertainment, and influencer-driven brand-awareness. Key components were:

Challenges and Adaptation

We faced several challenges throughout the planning and execution phases, including tight timelines and last-minute logistical changes.

Additionally, the event location was impacted by inclement weather, which led to flight delays. However, we worked closely with our vendors to make adjustments, ensuring that attendees arrived safely and on time.

Despite these challenges, the event’s execution was seamless, and our creative approach—combining wellness, entertainment, and influencer engagement—allowed us to meet our objectives effectively.

The Careers in Care: Off the Clock event not only met but exceeded all expectations, delivering remarkable results across key metrics.
