Helping from Home began as a seasonal project and has grown into a year-round initiative supporting veterans, hospital patients, and families facing loss or displacement. In 2025, we launched The Sleeper—a durable, all-in-one sleeping mat that rolls into a bolster pillow, designed to offer both comfort and practicality for displaced families.
When wildfires struck Southern California in January, we quickly responded by donating 500 Sleepers to Baby2Baby and over $855,000 worth of bedding and essentials to impacted families. Our online nomination form allowed community members to request support for loved ones, leading to over 4,000 submissions that month alone. This community-driven approach mobilized a passionate team to deliver help quickly and directly.
As we approached our 10th year, our Impact Council surveyed employees to assess how to evolve the program. The message was clear: rather than just funding a single organization, we wanted to create more localized, personal impact. Helping from Home became a platform for action, not just donation.
We relaunched our website with a simplified submission process, making it easier for individuals to request or offer support. At the same time, recognizing the urgent need for emergency-specific solutions, we created The Sleeper—a product built to meet the real challenges of disaster relief while staying true to our values of comfort and care.
Boll & Branch is centered on bringing comfort and care to people in crisis—whether they're facing natural disasters, illness, displacement, or loss. This commitment comes to life through Helping from Home, our philanthropic initiative that we launched in 2020 as a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since evolved. For us, it’s about more than just donating products—it’s about using what we know best–bedding and sleep essentials–to provide relief that’s immediate, tangible, and deeply personal.
In the early days of the 2025 LA wildfire crisis, our team quickly mobilized to expand our Helping from Home program to support displaced families. A cross-functional group met daily—on top of their core responsibilities—to build new infrastructure, coordinate large-scale donations, and ensure timely fulfillment. One of our biggest challenges was balancing urgency with care: how could we move quickly while still ensuring our product went to those who needed it most? The logistics were complex, from handling high-volume shipments to navigating evolving timelines—but our commitment was clear: show up meaningfully, both during and after the crisis. Even after the immediate fires passed, we found ways to continue supporting the community, including donating pillows during our LA Sample Sale. It was a powerful reminder of the role we can play in moments of real need.
We saw over 4,000 submissions come through our Helping from Home form in January 2025 and immediately rallied a group of passionate individuals to our team to send out product and action immediately to those in need. To date, we have donated over $855,000 in product and 500 Sleepers to people in Southern California & organizations like Baby2Baby. We also worked with Whitney Port and other local philanthropists who hosted donation drives to get essential products into the hands of those impacted by the fires.
Boll & Branch prioritized Helping from Home and deployment of The Sleeper, dedicating significant resources to ensure its long-term sustainability, and to help as many people as possible. The coverage and visibility led to a significant spike in online engagement on the Helping from Home page, up 58% in January 2025 alone compared to the entire year of 2024, fueling further momentum.
