Helmed by Hollywood’s beloved Black power couple, Ryan Michelle Bathe and Sterling K. Brown, We Don’t Always Agree offers a fresh, elevated take on learning and growing together—even (or especially) when we don’t see eye-to-eye. In this dynamic 12-episode series, Ryan and Sterling dive into the conversations we often avoid—within families, friendships, workplaces, and relationships. They tackle timeless debates, unpack cultural and personal truths, and get down to the nitty-gritty with honesty, humor, and heart. This show will make you laugh, challenge your thinking, and definitely ruffle a few feathers. But most importantly, it sparks real, necessary conversations. Ryan and Sterling's banter is really as profound and affirming as it is entertaining. Which is a testament to their almost 20 years of marriage. Ryan and Sterling, proud of the life they've built together, bring a refreshing mix of insight, authenticity, and joy to the topics we all need to be talking about.
Ryan came up with the concept for the podcast—naturally, given her sharp opinions and deep knowledge on a wide range of topics. The moment Sterling heard about it, he was all in. He knew the disagreements, banter, and learning that would come from these conversations would be too good to pass up.
What they didn’t expect? Just how much work it would take to bring We Don’t Always Agree to life. After weeks of aligning their teams, staffing Sterling's production company, and aligning their work schedules, the podcast finally became a reality. And from the very first episode, it was clear—it was all worth it.
We Don’t Always Agree was filmed over three intense days, four episodes per day, filled with back-to-back discussions, debates, and deep bonding. And at the end of each exhausting but rewarding day, Sterling and Ryan would share a car ride home, proving just how rock solid their relationship had to be to withstand these conversations.
In the weeks that followed, the editing process ran smoothly, and ad sales fell into place. But the moment of truth was the launch.
The response was everything. So many people have connected with the podcast, feeling like they’ve found a space to hang out, reflect, and engage in the kinds of conversations we all need to be having. It’s more than just a show—it’s a platform, a community, and a conversation starter for the tough, necessary discussions that bring us all closer together.
And this is just the beginning. As more listeners join in, the conversation online continues. With more people tuning in every week, the perspectives broader, and the impact is even greater with every listen. We Don’t Always Agree is here to challenge, entertain, and inspire—and we can’t wait to see where this journey will go.
As we mentioned, the response to We Don’t Always Agree has far exceeded our expectations. And while, yes, we’re proud of the numbers, what truly matters is the impact—the stories, the conversations, and the connections being made.
People are opening up in ways we never imagined! They are sharing their experiences of Black identity, struggles with eating disorders, financial stress, personal growth, and so much more. All because Sterling and Ryan decided to put a mic to the kinds of conversations they were already having, and have been having for twenty plus years.
This podcast was never about getting the other person to agree. It’s about being heard, feeling seen, and knowing you’re not alone in your thoughts, perspectives, and ideals. And that? That’s what makes this brand so powerful.
We’re beyond thrilled with how well the podcast is doing, both in reach and in engagement. Seeing so many people tune in, share their thoughts, and connect with these discussions has been truly rewarding. We Don’t Always Agree is making waves, and we're not done yet.
