Social media is playing a bigger role than ever in how young people take in information. Our research shows that nearly half of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 15-29 who receive birth control information through social media, get this information from TikTok. That insight reinforced what we already knew. At Bedsider, meeting people where they are isn’t a strategy; it's fundamental. For more than a decade, our site and social channels have been a trusted space for connection and timely sexual health information.
Our team pays close attention to the formats young people respond to and the creators they trust. ASMR, known for its calming sounds and gentle, sensory style, offered a creative way to make sexual health content feel approachable, grounding, and even comforting. Because ASMR is a craft with deeply loyal audiences, we set out to partner with an established creator who could bring this idea to life with authenticity.
We identified Julieta Del Carmen, an ASMR creator with 1.7 million followers on TikTok, whose values around reproductive well-being align with ours. Her inclusion of Spanish-language content was an added strength for reaching one of our key priorities. We invited her into the collaboration through a handwritten letter, signaling the care and intentionality behind the project.
Our goals were to spark curiosity about birth control options, drive people to Bedsider’s Method Explorer for deeper information, strengthen brand awareness, and offer a positive, grounding counterweight to the noise and misinformation young people often encounter.
To bring this project to life, we began by working closely with Julieta to identify the style that would make sexual health information feel both accessible and true to her established voice. Because she had previously created medical-style ASMR role-plays, we aligned on a doctor-inspired format. The white coat served as a simple visual cue that the content was health-related, while the role-play format kept it grounded in the sensory, calming world her audience already trusted.
Most ASMR medical role-plays are intentionally playful and aren’t meant to be medically accurate. That created a challenge for us. We wanted the videos to fit naturally into the ASMR world Julieta’s audience loves, but we also needed the information to be correct and helpful. Our approach was to keep the structure and tone of ASMR intact while giving Julieta everything she needed to share clear, trusted facts.
We assembled props, including imitation but life-like birth control methods that were perfect for ASMR tapping and visuals. These let her show what different methods generally look like, while still making it obvious that she was playing a character. We also provided simple, high-level talking points from Bedsider’s Method Explorer so she could stay accurate without feeling restricted or scripted.
A key part of our execution was knowing when to step back. ASMR creators build large, loyal audiences because they maintain a specific tone, rhythm, and visual style. We intentionally kept our review process minimal, trusting Julieta’s deep understanding of her community and her proven instincts as a creator. That trust paid off. She adapted our materials with care, grounding each video in empathy, accuracy, and her signature calming presence.
Identifying Julieta as the right partner required careful consideration of tone, audience, and intent. She consistently engages with content that champions bodily autonomy and shares videos in both English and Spanish, making her an ideal messenger for this work. Because the partnership was pro bono, the sincerity behind her participation was evident. Her audience could see that she wasn’t just reading a script; she genuinely believed in sharing this information.
In the end, the collaboration worked because it honored both sides. We provided trusted, medically accurate information and thoughtful creative direction. Julieta brought authenticity, artistry, and a deep connection with her audience. Together, we transformed sexual health education into something gentle, grounding, and uniquely suited to the digital spaces where young people are already learning.
What began as a single planned video quickly grew into a full series. Julieta was so energized by the concept and props we shared that she created nine ASMR videos in her signature doctor-style role-play and compiled them into a playlist. She introduced her audience to Bedsider as a trusted source and shared approachable, high-level information about several birth control methods, including one video entirely in Spanish. Her calming, reassuring style helped the series stand out in a space where sexual health content is often hard to find, hard to trust, or overly clinical.
The collaboration has now surpassed 6.4 million total views, bringing a surge of new followers and site visits and introducing thousands of people to Bedsider for the first time. These results directly reflect our goals: we sparked curiosity, grew brand awareness, and offered young people grounding and judgment-free information when they needed it most.
The comment section became its own measure of success. Thousands of viewers shared relief, gratitude, and excitement at finding sexual health information that felt relatable, accessible, and shame-free. A few examples:
