Objective

The mission at Yahoo Sports is to make sports fans smarter. To achieve this in 2025, Yahoo Sports set ambitious goals in the areas of digital content, multi-platform distribution, and product innovation.

Digital Content: Smart sports content produces smart sports fans. In the past year, Yahoo Sports aimed to increase the amount of expert news and analysis it delivered. This entailed adding new voices, debuting new shows, and forging new content partnerships.

Multi-Platform Distribution: Smart sports content needs to reach fans in order to make them smarter. But that’s never been more challenging. Media consumption is highly fragmented, as fans today consume their news and highlights across multiple outlets, platforms, and devices. In 2025, Yahoo Sports set out to distribute its content across more platforms so it can continue to meet fans wherever they get their news.

Product Innovation: Yahoo Sports products play an important role in showcasing the expert coverage the company produces. In 2025, Yahoo Sports aimed to launch innovative new products that would help get the right content in front of the right fan at the right time.

Strategy

Digital Content: To make fans smarter, Yahoo Sports grew its digital content offering in 2025. It launched five new shows, including Yahoo Sports Daily, a live morning show that recaps the previous day in sports and looks ahead to the day to come. Yahoo Sports also forged new partnerships to grow its video programming; for example, a collaboration with Boardroom to produce Network with Rich Kleiman, which features interviews with high-profile guests such as Michael Strahan, Draymond Green, Karl-Anthony Towns, and more. In addition, Yahoo Sports added a range of expert voices this year, including veteran NFL broadcaster Andrew Siciliano and popular college football analysts Josh Pate, Andy Staples, and Steven Godfrey. These shows and personalities bolster what was already a strong slate of programming, which includes fan favorites such as The Ariel Helwani Show, Football 301 with Nate Tice, The Kevin O’Connor Show, and College Football Enquirer (co-hosted by Ross Dellenger, the 2025 National Sports Media Association National Sportswriter of the Year).

Multi-Platform Distribution: Reaching fans wherever they are is essential to making them smarter. In today’s fragmented media landscape, that means serving fans across multiple platforms. In 2025, Yahoo Sports increased the number of platforms it distributes content on. It launched Yahoo Sports Network, its first-ever free streaming TV (FAST) channel. Yahoo Sports Network covers a range of sports, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, combat and more, and is available on Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Fire TV, Fubo, LG Channels, Plex, Prime Video, Sling Freestream, and The Roku Channel. Also this year, Yahoo Sports launched yahoosports.tv, a web destination for video. In addition to distributing Yahoo Sports Network, yahoosports.tv distributes highlights from most every major sports league, as well as content from partners such as OneFootball and Motorsport Network. In addition, Yahoo Sports strengthened its YouTube presence with the launch of a new Yahoo Fantasy YouTube channel. Finally, Yahoo Sports bolstered its social media distribution by partnering with a range of creators in the fantasy football space, including Joel Smyth, No BS Fantasy Football, and The Brokowskis.

Product Innovation: Yahoo Sports launched innovative features in 2025 that bring expert coverage to fans, faster. It delivered AI-powered team pages on the Yahoo Sports website that update in real-time to make sure fans are always up-to-speed on the teams they care about most. With the help of AI, these pages are programmed with the most important and relevant coverage produced by both Yahoo Sports and its partners. The Yahoo Sports app now features AI-generated headlines personalized to fans at the top of the home tab experience. The headlines serve as quick access links to the most important articles and videos about a fan’s favorite teams. Yahoo Sports also launched AI-powered Game Breakdowns, which deliver smart insights and analysis that add context around the numbers in a box score. Accessible on Yahoo Sports app NFL game pages, these breakdowns update in real-time to catch fans up on the latest about a game no matter when they open the app.

Results

Yahoo Sports had a transformational year in 2025. It increased the number of shows it produces, the hours of content it delivers, and the viewership of its programs. It launched five new shows in 2025 and now produces more than 60 hours of programming a week. Yahoo Sports show listens/views increased more than 130% year over year, with YouTube watch time increasing more than 180% over that same period.

The social media metrics for Yahoo Sports are equally as strong. Yahoo Sports social accounts gained more than 1.4 million followers this year, with Yahoo Fantasy TikTok followers more than doubling alone. Yahoo Sports also saw massive year over year increases in social video views (+125%), engagements (+199%), and the number of posts with more than one million views (+239%). The partnerships with fantasy football creators also drove significant growth; these creators drove a quarter of all Yahoo Fantasy social account views in 2025.

The new Yahoo Fantasy YouTube channel is also producing strong early returns. Since launching in August, the channel has already eclipsed half of the main Yahoo Sports YouTube channel watch time in 2025. And while still in the early innings, Yahoo Sports Network is already growing; next year, it will add live Indoor Football League games to its programming slate.

With strong growth in 2025 and continued investment planned for 2026, Yahoo Sports remains well-positioned to be the ultimate destination – across multiple platforms – for expert news and analysis that makes fans smarter.
