Amid an increasingly competitive landscape, we sought to reinforce the value of the HBO brand and strengthen its social presence.
Looking at the core currency of HBO – decades of moments and characters – we built a visual language that reinforces the breadth and depth of what HBO means to people.
Pulling from an arsenal of moments to use the brand to respond to what is happening in the world, HBO comments on topical subjects, shares major news, and reminisces with high quality, thought-provoking, witty content. When the Polar Vortex hit the Northeast, we shared a memorable, Chilling moment of a Whitewalker from Game of Thrones to warm hearts and minds.
Facebook Timeline Milestones share pivotal programming moments and technological advances that created waves of disruption in the industry. Our day-to-day Facebook and Twitter publishing strategy speaks to topical events using our core social currency: memorable programming moments.
@HBO Instagram offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of past and current programming. We use Instagram to break anticipation-generating stills from upcoming series, and show the creative processes behind programming with exclusive video content.
On Tumblr, we embrace fan behavior already present on the platform, showcasing love for HBO as reflected through the lens of popular culture. The Tumblr relays how the cultural landscape digests, recapitulates, and renders HBO storytelling, reblogging/sharing the parodies, art and compelling think-pieces that contribute to the HBO cultural world.
Focusing our strategy, conversation and engagement has multiplied the HBO brand footprint (alone) to more than 14MM social users.
